 A brilliant paper published recently in the Journal of the American Medical Association reported on the study of more than 6,600 people age 65 and older. The investigators found that those who kept seven risk factors under control had a dramatically reduced risk for developing dementia/ These are the risk factors:

  1. Not smoking

  2. Healthy body weight

  3. Regular cardiovascular exercise

  4. Healthy diet

  5. Cholesterol below 200

  6. Fasting blood sugar below 100

  7. Blood pressure (untreated) below 120/80
